You will lose your Thunderbolt port

Good first. Form factor and color are excellent. Some people have claimed that the white LED doesn't match the Mac Mini, but mine is perfectly aligned. The description also states that external CD drives don't work, but the external Blu-ray drive I have has 2 USB sockets and it works fine with both plugged in. More for the worse. Reviews have surfaced over the past few weeks clarifying that you're dropping the Thunderbolt port and replacing it with USB-C. (I didn't see them before I bought them.) Sure, the description says USB-C, but it's not unreasonable to assume that if you connect to a Thunderbolt/USB-C port you'll keep it . The problem is that people who want to run a monitor and an external hard drive through Thunderbolt are out of luck. Dual monitor setups nail this coffin (1TB, 1 HDMI, and your last TB port goes away with this dock.) I haven't bought internal m.2 storage yet, so can't comment on that. I'll connect my trusty LaCie hard drive via USB 3.0 instead of Thunderbolt and see how it goes.

Pros
  • Nice thing
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
