I've had this for a few months now. Loved it. It's oriented to be perfect for reading while someone else is sleeping. There were 3 great colors. Blue light filter color, brilliant white and bluish color. Everything can be made very bright or dimmed to the level of night lighting. It lights up where you point it without letting the light through. The best reading lamp I've ever had. It has a handy beautiful button in the middle of the cord that's perfect for my pillows between the top of the headboard and the socket. BUT. ATTENTION BUYERS! THIS WILL DESTROY YOUR FURNITURE! My hard cherry colored headboard is ruined. It won't fix it. It's a $6,000 bed ruined by a $10 reading lamp. I'm writing this now (after realizing that this was the reason I'm writing the review) and noticed this after 3 months of use. My cleaning lady didn't say a word, she must have thought I saw it. But you know, I go to bed in the dark and my pillow has a string from a reading lamp on it, so I never look at the head of the bed. Even if I returned it, what's the use now? I added soft side velcro to prevent further damage and my modification worked fine. If you buy this lantern, do not attach it to a tree. If you need to secure it to a tree, make sure you put something underneath to soften it so you don't end up with big ol' torn holes in the headboard.
