Review on Effortless Educator: Advanced 1/2 Mile Dog Training System by Becky Gilbert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A great training tool and possibly a lifesaver

This type of e-collar provides very, very little stimulation that creates a muscle twitch sensation. Almost every day at the dog park naysayers hold it in their hands and "recognize" them at the level I communicate with my dog, typically 12 out of 100. Many people don't feel this until he's 20/. 100 and more! The sound function is a great substitute for clicker training. I plan to explore different programming options as my dog develops, but for now I'm very happy with the settings provided. My dog only squeaked once when I had to activate the 60/100 collar because he ran into a rabbit in the woods and was gone. I don't know at what point without the collar he would have realized he was far from me and I had little chance of catching him. I gave it 4/5 stars for two reasons: the vibration felt more aggressive than the low electric setting, and the remote broke after a few months of use. The vibration is about twice as strong as a large cell phone and I've decided never to use it. The remote screen gradually faded, but I used the locking mechanism to keep the stimulation level at the desired level and the remote continued to work. The remote is pretty solid and well built, but I have fingers and have literally thrown the remote down the stairs, kicked it across the sidewalk, and knocked it off my desk onto the hardwood floor on a daily basis. If the remote had survived I would have given this product a 6/5 but instead I just ordered a new remote and now I only have 'new' for the inside and 'broken' only for the outside.
