Review on 🐟 Aqueon 16-Inch Large Siphon Vacuum Gravel Cleaner by Tim Hollinger

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Garbage - hasn't been working for less than a year

The key feature of this type of siphon vacuum cleaner is a tiny flap in a piece of plastic that connects a hard plastic cylinder to a flexible hose - this flap is what prevents that water slides back into the tank when you move the cylinder up and down to start the vacuum flow in the siphon. This Aqueon product has a blue plastic plug in place of this flap that will get stuck in the open position rendering it functionally useless. If this damper is stuck in the open position, the only way to start (and keep priming) is to quickly suck the fish water through the siphon tube. I personally don't know anyone who would like to get a sip of dirty fish poop water, but hey - if that's your thing then this product is for you. If instead you're looking for a decent aquarium vacuum that WORKS for over 6 months, skip this one and keep shopping. whole plastic cylinder. I filed a complaint with Revain and they sent a replacement. But here we are, just 6 months later, with what should be my working replacement, and the valve is hopelessly stuck inside. This isn't the first time it's failed, it's just the first time I've been unable to put a needle in the blue cap and move the valve. And no, there's nothing for that thing to suck in to stick there. It's just a very bad design.
