Green lasers work better than red ones in daylight, which doesn't say much. The glasses help make the lines sharper, but a lot depends on the brightness of your beam. far they can project a visible beam. The included small rectangular target, 2.5" x 4", has some foil on the back to help. It doesn't seem to help, and finding my beam beyond 15ft (outer shadow) is next to impossible. What is possible is a nice big white bucket lid or light cardboard, something big and almost white. Also helps to use glasses. a lot outside. For reference, on the physical side of the world, longer-wavelength greens (and blues) scatter more in the atmosphere than shorter-wavelength reds. This is one of the reasons we have rainbows (another reason is water droplets).
