We did not use this plate for what was advertised. My husband bought a new smoke alarm not knowing it was battery powered for 10 years; not electric like our old one. We liked the idea, so we didn't want to return the alarm; However, we had to plug a 5 inch hole in the wall with electrical wires inside. We dared and ordered this plate. He drilled 3 small holes in the center to attach a small attachment to the new alarm clock. Then we connected the alarm to the nozzle of the new tablet. Then we peeled the paper off the adhesive strips and stuck the whole thing to the wall. Until it came off the wall. So we're planning to swap out a few more alarm clocks.
