Doesn't fit at all with video projectors and accessories

I've had a projector for over 12 years and have changed the lightbulb quite often. This bulb didn't fit when I tried to insert it and got so stuck that I had to remove the projector from the ceiling mount and pry the bulb (filled with dangerous mercury fumes) out with a pair of pliers, disassembling the bulb and almost breaking the base . Projector. I bought another bulb that I've used in the past (it was a bit flimsy) and it fit like a glove again.
