The rooCASE Oragami Case seems to be currently at or near the top of the cases, the big advantage of this case being the number and variations of orientations, including both portrait and landscape, and at the price point, is hard to beat. The oragami cover is ingenious, you can fold it up all sorts of ways, the iPad Air has a lot of applications that fairly beg for portrait orientation (reading a book, newspaper, etc.). The conventional Apple case supports only landscape, as do a number of competitors (the CaseCrown Omni is one of the better conventional ones). The Moshi and O!Case are also oragami cases, although the designs differ some. The rooCASE has a more rubberized or grippy exterior, key because it's less likely to slip and get dropped. Protection is generally pretty good, but the CaseCrown does a little better on edge protection, the openings on the rooCase tend to be U-shaped, the CaseCrown is more O-Shaped, but otherwise they are very similar. The Moshi has one advantage, in that it has a back magnet, that lets it stay open better in book mode. The rooCASE actually has magnets that keep it closed pretty well, but it lacks a back magnet. The rooCase front cover of course folds up to support quite a number of variations or angles, which is a big advantage over conventional cases, and on a desk or table, is plenty stable. The microfiber front interior is nice, it tends to help keep the screen clean, but it is worth noting that the orgami pattern tends to show up in the fingerprints and grease, so you do need to clean the screen from time to time. rooCASE also shuts off the iPad Air screen when you close it, a very useful feature. The end result is still pretty light and easy to carry, in keeping with the iPad Air design point. Why not 5 stars? rooCase is very close, but they could improve the edge coverage/protection, and add a back magnet (ala Moshi), and NuGuard KX probably has the better back protection (at the cost of some bulk), but at its price-point, front and back protection, oragami design that lets you pick multiple orientations and angles, the rooCASE is pretty much unbeatable, and worthy of consideration at any price.
