I use it for everything from polishing rubbing points on a gun to repairing a scratch on a car. It works amazing! For scratches, simply clean the area by wiping with a damp cloth, apply Flitz to a cotton rag (an old sock or piece of t-shirt) and rub thoroughly back and forth until you get a smooth, polished surface and/or the scratch is gone is gone. To polish the trigger parts on my guns, I simply dip the end of a cotton swab into the tube and rub until it's black, then use another cotton swab until I've polished enough. This stuff will save you when mysterious streaks/scratches randomly appear on your car. It removes big scratches from my car and my wife's car like magic! Deep scratches 1mm or more deep will not work. You'll have to use touch-up paint on them, but works wonders on everything else. I also use it to polish my wedding ring. Leaves a professional look. If you use it on your car, be careful not to get it on the plastic parts of the car body as the plastic can be difficult to remove.
