Trouble getting out of sleep mode

UPDATE: The workaround below didn't work for a machine that went into sleep mode and after 30 minutes of inactivity. I still had to disconnect and reconnect the display from the dongle. The picture was great when it worked, but the problem was too annoying to justify. I bought this for an Asus G15 (2021) laptop. When the laptop turns off the displays or goes to sleep, the external monitor does not wake up. This happens 100% of the time when allowed. At first I thought it was a laptop issue where the USB hub disconnects and never checks again. However, I was able to narrow it down to just that key. If I just unplug the display from the key and plug it back in, it works. This means that when the key wakes up, it *receives* power and doesn't send a signal to the display. Constantly unplugging and plugging in leads to premature wear of the connectors on the dongle or the laptop itself and is not a solution. I've heard of this happening with some chipsets used in dongles and this dongle seems to be affected. The key refuses to send a signal until either it's plugged back in or the laptop is powered off completely. The workaround is to go into Device Manager and disable power management on USB hubs. It's bad for battery life, but if you're using this for desktop work (which I did with an external display), it shouldn't affect anything. Sleep and display off timers now work and wake up the monitor correctly, but by modifying the software/hardware. Settings shouldn't really be necessary. There are dongles with unaffected chipsets that do not require a workaround.
