I originally got this card because I didn't think the Elgato HD60 S would work with my PC. what was my real problem. I used the USB ports on my case and tested AverMedia with some sample recordings. I noticed horrible video/audio desync and very slow response at USB 2.0 recording speeds and slight audio lag with near perfect USB 3.0 response. Elgato was unable to connect to any of the 3.0 ports on my motherboard. Everything was perfect. This led me to my other test the next day. Things to know about this card: -- If you read the manual, there's an indicator light that flashes when it says it's updating its firmware. I highly recommend connecting this card to Windows (with internet access) to set it up for the first time. Although it is a UVC card and can therefore be used under Linux, I did not want to test it. Yes, this card doesn't have an HDMI pass-through, but if you don't want to be looking at your TV screen while recording, do you need it? I mean, the video appears in your capture software of choice after you set up your card, so the only way to really know you've got it right is when everything works. And that's the way it should be. This device also comes with its own recording software on its website, and if you want an idea of how much recording time you have, why not give it a try?
