These bulbs are the perfect replacement for the standard 20W G8. They are actually slightly brighter than halogen. In combination with a halogen lamp, they can be dimmed, but the halogen lamp dims much more than the LED, which eventually goes out long before the LEDs. All lightbulbs in the system LED are NOT dimmed, they immediately go from bright to simple glow. I have both natural (4000k) and warm (2700k) and warm actually looks brighter and more comfortable in a home cooking environment. The color temperature is excellent. Except for a slightly brighter light, they are indistinguishable from halogen lamps. They get pretty hot when on, but nowhere near as hot as a halogen. I had to remove the glass from the light covers under the cabinet as the LEDs are a little thicker around the perimeter. The glass in my headlight is clear, so it didn't matter. If you have frosted glass, you can check how close the glass is to the halogen bulb. Halogen bulbs are 0.4 inch in diameter and LED bulbs are 0.5 inch in diameter. I've only had them for a few weeks so I can't comment on how they're holding up over time. My experience with LEDs is that they don't last as long as the manufacturers claim. They're not much more expensive than high-end halogen bulbs and claim to only use 2 watts, so with energy savings and even 2x longer life, they're totally worth it.
