If you're looking for a quality 18/10 stainless steel kettle that's not made in China, this is pretty much your only option. Trust me, I was seriously hunting. Many knowledgeable people trading in China have reported the lack of reliability of the steel products manufactured there. Since I drink tea many times a day, I was concerned that unknown compounds might get into my tea from a teapot of dubious origin. For this reason and only for this reason I have this kettle and I am satisfied with it. Other perks are that I enjoy sitting on my vintage stove and I can easily put my hand in to clean and the water flows very well without gurgling. A teapot with a very nice design. The downside of this kettle is that it doesn't whistle. Tried to swap the kettle for another, tried to change the whistle. Without change. Unless you're within a few feet, you won't hear a sound, which isn't really a whistle but more of a hiss. My solution is to put a timer in my bag so I don't forget to go back to the kitchen and light my kettle. Of course that costs too much, but if I have to pay for it so that no toxins get into the tea water, then I have paid. It looks good and works well on all levels except the whistle doesn't actually whistle. Without that one issue it would have gotten five stars.
