These straws hold together very well. Other reviewers have complained about the straws turning to a pulp in the glass, but I've never had this problem. Maybe it will happen if you leave the straw for a few hours. I've never tried it, but I don't see a real world situation where I would need a straw to last that long in a drink. I first tried metal reusable straws, but after a few dozen washes, the silicone tips on a few of them came loose, slipped over the tip, and slipped off in the wash.
