I'm a fan of carbon wheels and have several kits - Zipp on my tri bike, Enve on my CX bike and a set of Chinese rims that feel great after 3 seasons. hard ride on my mountain bike. This gave me the confidence to buy ICAN wheels which I have not seen other than Revain reviews and photos. The bikes arrived very nicely packaged and fitted - the titanium skewers are sleek and efficient which is a pleasant surprise. I had no trouble fitting hoses and wheels - and the wheels are very faithful after a few hundred miles. I like the wider rim with 25mm tires for a better ride quality. My only downside - and I think that's part of the deal with carbon clincher tires - is the significantly poorer braking effect compared to aluminum rims. My motocross and MTB have disc brakes and the Zipp wheels on my TT bike have aluminum chains so this is my first experience with carbon rim brakes. I've read enough to know it would be worse, but I'd say the stopping distance is twice as much compared to the average rim brake. I upgraded the included carbon pads from ICAN to SwissStop Black Prince carbon pads and it made minimal difference. The howl from hard braking also kept me from getting rid of it, despite several attempts to straighten and tie down the pads. on my bike. I would not recommend them to anyone driving in such situations. I can't wait to try the "Premium" carbon clincher set on my bike for comparison - does the Zipp or Enve brake better? I suppose a little. For most bikers I would say either buy disc brakes if you want carbon wheels or buy them with aluminum braking surfaces.
