The razor blade has just been given a whole new definition for me. I've been using a safety razor as my main shaving tool for a while now. My razor came with a pair of Shark blades which were fine but when they ran out I tried them on and I have to say they are fantastic. I will never go back to Gillette razors (and the like), I've tried a few and yes the shave is really close and nice but so does a good safety razor and good blades like this. There's absolutely no difference in how "close" or comfortable it will be to shave with an old-fashioned safety razor (+ those blades) and a premium Gillette blade with lasers, vibrators, and missiles. The only difference is that it saves you a hell of a lot of money compared to today's Gillette blades (or similar). Some people say you can use these blades for a few shaves. Honestly, I don't care about 40 cents or so per blade. I just enjoy a new one every time I shave. I'm still saving over 70% of what I used to spend on a different type of blade. On the plus side, since you only have 1 blade it also means that when you rinse it to get rid of tiny hairs it rinses out very quickly (unlike multi-blade blades which often get stuck despite constant rinsing). Although sometimes you need 2 passes to get a close shave (since this razor only has 1 blade compared to the Gillette razor which normally has 3-4 passes and effectively performs 3-4 passes per pass), it actually shaves faster because you spend less time washing up!
