A simple washer for the front screw fixes the clip issue.
As some reviewers have said, when you tighten the clip it flexes and doesn't properly engage the pedals. I made some 2-3mm thick spacers out of the cover of an old phone and tightened the front screw. Now the shoe slides perfectly in and out of the pedals.
