Review on EMPI 9206 7 Full Flow Filter by Donald Cummings

Filter PH561 and use GOOD.

This pump may cause some problems if you are not careful or understand! Aside from the usual problem with a flat and bulbous cam (that's the flat/3-bolt common with working cams), you need to check the cam bolt clearance when using a secondary cam. Mine was cleaned well and the boss fit perfectly in the cam hole. They use 32mm titanium gears. It's HUGE and on a cold start the pressure rises to a whopping psi, 250psi+! Make sure you are using a GOOD filter. Speaking of which, I have no idea why everyone is trying to keep this a secret, but it uses the PH561 filter by default. It is also known as Mobil One M1-205 or Bosch 3421. This filter can be found on many VW vehicles and you can go to your local parts store to get one. Ask for an oil filter for a 1996 Jetta with a 2.0 liter engine, A or B doesn't matter. However, it will accept any oil filter with an internal diameter between 65 mm (2.56) and 79 mm (3.10 in). seal and has a 3/4-16 female thread (these measurements are from my example but should be consistent). And of course cleans your engine and exhaust system. You will also need a check valve. Wix 51342 is your ph561 replacement and is of exceptional quality. 350 psi burst pressure, 7-9 gpm flow, 21 micron filtration, 4.8" long x 3" wide. The seal is 61mm internal diameter and 73mm external diameter so is not perfect but fits well. It also has a very high bypass of 16psi. A slightly larger and cheaper filter is the Wix 51622. Also known as the HP1. If you have the space, this is a great 500psi burst pressure filter that was used on TONS of cars in the 90's. EVERY parts store has this ultra-common filter. If you have a seat, be sure to get it. As this is a common occurrence, this will encourage you to change your oil at a more opportune time. You can even buy them in big stores. Model 51315 is also a fairly similar sized variant with the same bypass and filtration, although the burst pressure is 30psi lower, but that shouldn't matter. It's much more common, having been used on the 2001-2004 Ford Escape with the 2.0L engine, as well as its Mazda Tribute cousin. If you need a shorter filter, 51391 will also work. It has a chest pressure of 360psi and is 4 inches long (half an inch shorter). Same bypass 21 micron, 7-9 gpm and 16 psi. It is listed for Chevrolet Tracker 01-04 with 2.5L V6 engine and should be available from your local parts store. Its equivalent is Mobile 1 m1-102. Suppose you need another SHORT filter. Like, VERY short. If you're running a slightly thinner oil and want to live with a 280psi burst pressure, the Wix 51335 might be for you. It is used on diesel ditch machines and some 4-bit engines. It's also 2.5 inches tall. Yes. small. Although you check that it's clean, it's 3.5 inches in diameter. And you can get it from orielly!
