You CAN keep the console USB port in the 2016 Honda CR-V!

I installed a Kenwood head unit in my 2016 CR-V. You probably can't save the car's USB port in the console. I'm here to tell you that you CAN! They want you to run the new radio's USB cable in the glove box or any other location you see fit. I didn't find this acceptable for connecting a phone to Apple Carplay or Android Auto. I disassembled the entire center console to figure out where this adapter is supposed to connect. I'll save you the trouble! On the driver's side in front of the console (next to the right foot) is a panel that needs to be removed. It has two round clasps on the left and three retractable clips on the right that can be pulled out with a small plastic tool. You will see two connectors connected to the wiring harness on the console. Two (grey plug) is the USB port that you connect this adapter to. On the other end of the adapter is a standard USB "mother" connector. I want them to make this adapter with a male connector since Kenwood's USB has a female connector as well. I bought a small male to male adapter, plugged everything together and the USB port on my console works like a charm! Hope this helps someone.
