I've had a Final E3000 for a few years and love it so much. When my favorite Klipsch S4 finally died, I took the risk of buying an E4000 as a replacement. The sound quality is very good - solid bass with a warm tone. The question I wrestle with is whether they cost around three times the price of the E3000, which are amazing on their own, with perhaps less sensitive bass but brighter highs. For my aging ears, the reinforced top is slightly more beneficial than the reinforced bottom, so I'm not sure. These are good phones in their own right. The case size is a hair's breadth larger than the E3000, and the hardwired connector means the fit is slightly different. The E3000s slipped easily into my ear canal, but the E4000s seem a little more resistant to insertion unless I flip them over (with the cord exit on top) and use the earhooks. The sound is good anyway. They're a lot less sensitive to ear position than some of the other phones I've had, like the Shure SE215, which goes from great to crap with a tiny change in insertion angle. Listen to the last 3 minutes of Mark Knopfler's "Speedway At Nazareth" to find out what these buddies are capable of.
