I bought this for small shows less than 50 people. This speaker can do that, but after hooking it up to the studio output mix, I found that it was just as good as a $150 studio monitor with a 6-inch woofer, but four times the price. So for four times the price, you get extra input and battery portability. It can also be mounted on a speaker stand. Compared to others in the same category I would give the best value here but choose carefully or your wife might get mad at how much money this dollar is getting. Update: When I originally bought this, I really didn't do justice to the battery powered option. Well, it turned out to be pretty damn cute. I can take this speaker, microphone and stand with me and play wherever and whenever I want. The reverb is pretty decent too if you keep the setting to the minimum. I am using my speaker with the xvive wireless guitar system and I only have ONE CABLE! With two hands, you can go anywhere and rock it pretty well. I also use it as a Bluetooth speaker all the time. It's pretty cool to throw a small corn hole in the garden and not have to run an extension cord there. I'm sticking with 4 stars anyway. For the price I would have expected a little better sound quality.
