The largest lamp in my set is broken! The tiny metal rod that 'hangs' the flame was not positioned where it should have been, but inserted into the hole where the lightbulb sits. For the other two candles, the rod was lowered through the hole and installed into the candle, leaving the false flame dangling from this rod like a trapezoidal wire. I took the needle nose pliers and bent the stem to thread it back into the center hole, then straightened the stem, clipped the end to secure and inserted it into the wax candle on the opposite side of the stem. Wick hole for two more candles. In daylight, the "wicks" look fake and strange. In the dark, when the candles are burning, the "wicks" look normal. These "wicks" are very different from other battery powered candles I've seen. Most have a small, flame-shaped plastic ball that glows from within. These candles have a flat "wick" in the form of a white flame hanging from a thin piece of metal wire. When the candle is lit, the "flame of the wick" dances; "moves back and forth" slightly as it is lit from below by a lightbulb. The slight shadow of a lightbulb against the background of a moving "fiery wick" makes it appear like a dancing candle flame. Adding garlands around it Candles create a particularly nice spruce vibe Overall I still give this candle set high marks, but I definitely do NOT need to completely remake MacGyver for the new product to work!
