This phone's direct competitor is the safely boring Samsung Galaxy S21FE. With the same price tag, the Korean has a better screen (LTPO), an SD 888 processor, an IP68 rating for tightness and cameras. Nothing Phone (1) can be chosen for its non-standard look and personal loyalty to Karl Pei. The hype and pathos clearly did not play into the hands of the company. Instead of rethinking the use of the phone, creating their own ecosystem and a new approach, people got a regular phone with flashing lights on the back. Nothing clashed with reality here: - You can't revolutionize user experience by building a phone on an operating system that dictates to the user the experience you're fighting against. - You can't create something original and still stay within the budget of the middle segment. One need only look at the first renderings of Nothing Phone (1), as well as Nothing Ears (1), to understand that what rolled off the assembly line is a huge compromise between desire and reality. - You can't create your own ecosystem. To do this, you need a scale that implies the involvement of many parties and standards. Nothing is very similar to Andy Rubin's Essential. The same mission, the same ideas and principles. Where is Essential now? (Answer: Bankrupt, assets bought out by Nothing).
