This is a fantastic lens and a great upgrade to the "standard" 18-55mm kit lens. The IS is better and not only is the lens sharper, but the color reproduction is MUCH better. I don't know how to explain it. I shoot a lot with vintage lenses and the only other ones I've found that have the nice rich and warm tones this lens delivers are the old Olympus 50mm f/1.8 and the Olympus 28mm f/3.5 (both you can buy cheaper). and they are AMAZING lenses). I've shot with everything from vintage glass to L-series lenses (too bloated in my opinion) to some really good Samyang and Rokinon MF lenses and few of them have as good a color rendition as this one . . It's sharp, not SUPER sharp, but more than enough if you stay away from 100% zoom (seriously, photography is generally supposed to be fun, pixel viewing is just plain depressing). The colors stand out and almost remind me of film shots as the tones are rendered well and have a 3D look than many digital lenses/cameras. Although some lenses cost several times more than this, I only picked it up for gaming and will continue to use it professionally. As long as there is enough light, I think this is an excellent lens.
