As I'm older I expected a string of high performance bulbs with heavier bulbs to withstand outdoor conditions. Unfortunately, the pears are very fragile! These are the most fragile bulbs I have ever used and I doubt they will survive outdoor use in high winds if they hit something hard. Because they didn't come with bulbs in their sockets, I dropped one trying to do this and it broke into a million pieces. No spare bulbs or fuses were included, so I wasn't able to test the cord to see if it worked or was used at all. Also, when screwing in the lamps, they didn't seem to want to go straight in. It was as if the cartridge didn't exactly match the pattern of the screws on the bulbs. Due to the issues I mentioned and the fact that I couldn't even turn on the light to test it, I feel compelled to give this product 1 star. If you're purchasing this cord, I strongly encourage you to understand that you MUST purchase spare bulbs at the same time, as you're likely to break one or two while stringing the cord (especially if you're doing it outdoors). ). Also note that the chain does not come with a spare fuse. If the fuse blows, you won't have working lights. I have ordered replacement bulbs and once they arrive and I can test the filament I will come back and evaluate the functionality of the filament.
