Review on HARDK Brake Caliper Press and Telescoping Magnetic Pick Up Tool Set: Efficient Ratcheting Piston Spreader for Car Brakes by Jason Mitts

First impressions of tools and equipment

I've changed brakes myself for years and always used a C-clamp and old pads or twisted the bleeder and then pushed the piston back in and that's what I wanted to do for the job but my new truck has dueling pistons and didn't want to damage them by running at them with a full dunk in the backyard. After a little research I came across this article. It wasn't the cheapest, just a few euros, but the added value of the magnet tool and the positive reviews made me choose it. And I'm glad I did! When I first got it, I tried it on the palm of my hand, grabbing the plates and ratchet. It worked. So, now to the installation. I used it on a Chevy Suburban and it had enough room to fit in the caliper when the pistons were fully extended, the brakes were almost released and low, and now they were pushing those pistons back in like butter. Retractable plates are perfect for a dual piston and I can see a single plate being perfect for a single piston. I honestly think this is one of the best $25 tools I've ever gotten. I feel like an ass because I didn't have one years ago, all the headaches of clamps and calipers not flat at times, it's always difficult to get the flat end to stay in place while you're using the turn knob. With this tool the problem is solved.

Pros
  • ✅ Ideal for most large trucks and commercial vehicles with four-piston calipers. Easy to install, easy to remove. Ratchet technology provides full 360 degree rotation, allowing the spreader to be placed in any position.
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
