The hood struts on my 2005 MDX were in service and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a 14 year old car so I bought this pair to replace them. They were very easy to assemble and fit together perfectly. I'm no mechanic but the whole process took 5 minutes and all I needed was a flathead screwdriver to remove the old posts and then these new ones snapped straight into place. You have enough pressure to gently open the hood and lock it securely in the open position. - I can't see any difference in design between these and my storage racks, other than the new ones clearly work much better. If you have a similar problem, under no circumstances contact your dealer; Save yourself a ton of money and time and just do it yourself.
