Review on iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Universal Car Mount Phone Holder for iPhone, Samsung, Moto, Huawei, Nokia, LG, Smartphones - Dashboard & Windshield Desk Stand by Jose Mcdaniel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice improvement

Background: I bought Easy One Touch 4 in Fall 2018 because of its features and price. I still use the original because it still works and nothing revolutionary came out - all it takes is holding the phone. The only problem I had with the Easy One Touch 4 was that the adhesive peeled off after a few months, but I was able to get a replacement [via RMA] after a few days. I have purchased Easy One Touch 4 several times for family and friends due to the value for money and customer service. I wanted to see if the Easy One Touch 5 would bring significant improvements, so I ordered it. in a "luxury" car; It tells me the company is trying to move upstream [and that's fine], but I don't think outside of Lyft/Uber most people will use a phone mount if their car already has built-in infotainment/GPS has. The packaging looks really nicer and the color palette has stayed the same. The font has also changed, but I doubt anyone really cares about packaging other than those who care about the environment. Each component inside gets its own packaging - this will likely prevent dust from entering and/or damaging the adhesive. Aside from fully sealing the outermost box, this is the best option. The manual is multilingual and includes instructions on how to set up the latest feature; magnetic charging cable holder; more on that later. First impressions: The high-gloss piano black finish has been ditched in favor of a matte black that's less fingerprint-prone, and the "presspad" has been replaced with a more muted, less-pleasant rubber. The pressure pad used to auto-fold the arms is no longer branded, but is now textured. This design choice is smart because it reduces tooling costs and looks more premium, which the packaging also tries to convey. All rubber grips have been slightly modified to provide more grip and depth to hold the phone securely. I haven't had any issues with devices falling out, but that's nice to see. What's more, the suction cup and protrusion mechanism hasn't changed much and is intuitive; There's no reason to fix something that's already working. As a side note, the instructions clearly state the "cure time" and temperature for assembling the base and bracket. If you don't follow the instructions, the adhesive will not form a strong bond and may fall off. Also, if you have a car that has a rubber dashboard or has been recalled due to UV damage (google-car-dash-melt-recalls), you can have sticking issues regardless - it doesn't mean it won. doesn't work, but if you have a mid 2000's Toyota Camry and you park it in the sun you may find that the suction cup has melted. Magnetic Cord Organizer: Inside the box you will see a small black rubber strip with 2 magnets. at opposite ends [shaped like a Breathe Right strip]. This wraps the charging cable so it doesn't fall between the seat and the center console or anywhere else you don't want it to fall. Most phones and cases have enough room for the cord to run somewhere neutral and everyone I've shown it to has had no problem using it with their phone. Changes: Lever now extends an additional 3 inches (8 inches total). ) in case you have a very long dashboard or want your phone to be as close to you as possible. The clamping bracket on the back of the device is thicker, stronger, and better threaded, making it easier to work with than last year's model. The legs are still adjustable, but the position of the legs is no longer set by the dial; The same piece of plastic used to attach the magnetic cable organizer can now be pushed (gently) towards the user and moved up or down depending on the height of the phone. Remarks. There are wireless charging options for this device, but I don't think it's worth the price increase - you still have to touch the phone to mount it, it takes 3-5 seconds to connect the phone and the cable is already right under the bracket. TL; DR This is the best car mount. available [as far as I know] in their price range.
