Soft and breathable with an elastic waist that fits very well. They're not tight at all but they sure wont fall down when you load your pockets down. The pockets are deep and zippered so when you're getting active, you won't lose your phone or that fist full of keys. I wear mine at work often and they are loose and forgiving enough for a climb on a ladder or crouching to read an item tag. The drawstrings hold them up fine in case you really overload those pockets. These are nice looking as well, so I'm told. The fit and the cool fabric are the high points for me. Great summer work shorts and great at the beach too!
