I wanted to like it because it looked like it would give the tea leaves plenty of room to grow. It does this, but it also sheds a lot of loose tea particles on your table after filling and after it's in hot water in your pot, which means you'll have to use a strainer. It's also more difficult to clean than Finum devices. because the tea particles get stuck in the sieve. Finum blocks have a much finer grid, so this is not an issue when using it. I've used Finum reusable stainless steel coffee and tea baskets (both medium and large versions), I'll stick with them. The strainer on the FInum blocks is the same as on the gold coffee filters, very fine, so you can shake them after filling them with tea and fine particles won't fly out, onto the counter or into the tea, so there's no need for one to use a sieve. This type of tea ball was great in the 1980s, but technology has evolved. Finum filters are the only ones offered by Grace Rare Teas and Mark T. Wendell Teas. Apparently they've used billions of similar designs over the years and settled on Finum. I used it and now compared it to a tea ball.
