As an avid loose tea drinker, I'm always looking for great products to add to my arsenal. After several days of searching for a highly rated Revain product, I made my decision based on all of the fantastic reviews. This item was well packaged and arrived very quickly and safely. Immediately after the birth I switched on the kettle, washed out the new tea diffuser and filled the can with a heaping teaspoon of pumpkin tea. I poured boiling water OVER the diffuser and to my surprise the diffuser stayed submerged with no problem! Impressed! Almost immediately after filling my cup, I noticed that the water began to turn a beautiful amber hue. He cooked so fast! Definitely a much faster alternative to my disposable paper tea bags! The flower head fits perfectly on the rim of my mug. The design is great, functional and beautiful! After removing my handy new diffuser, I noticed that very little sediment came out of the holes and a small amount was left over once I'd downed my nice hot beverage. However, I will say that this tea I used contains cinnamon and other spice powders, so sediment is normal. No more big leaves! Based on the reviews, I was surprised that EVERYONE was left behind! A little more remains than with conventional tea bags. However, when using a tea like my pumpkin tea, something is expected. Overall, this product is as cute as it is functional. The only downside in my opinion is that the silicone material has the ability to retain taste and smell. I noticed that right after washing. I washed them with soap (dishwashing method, clementine) and soaked them in 200 degree water for 10 minutes after disinfection. I noticed that they kept some of the soap smell. I may use vinegar for cleaning in the future to avoid this. Also, the metal around the top is a bit sharp. I assume this could result in injury if care is not taken when cleaning. The metal used is also VERY thin, please consider this before purchasing. They can easily be damaged to the point of being unusable if not cared for. The metal material is similar to the reusable coffee filter or reusable ground coffee mugs at Keurig. It's thin, and if you squeeze it, the top will burst. The top can come off very easily, so be aware that you need to be careful with these diffusers. ADVANTAGES: • Very affordable • Functional product • Diffuser will NOT crack! • Flower head hangs off edge • Virtually no residue • Easy to clean/sanitize • Easy to use • Drip trays included CONS: • Metal is very thin • Sharp edges • Very brittle • Leaves more residue than traditional tea bags Overall this is a really great product and seems to work VERY well! I'm in love and will definitely buy more. Note that the diffuser itself holds about 1 tablespoon of heaped liner (with room to properly expand). It's both functional and cute. I'm only deducting 1 star because of the thin and sharp-edged surface of the metal, not because of the functionality. I am sure that the company will solve this problem at some point. However, this is a must for tea lovers. It stays fully submerged, hanging from your mug and able to handle even the best teas with ease! I'll let you know if anything changes, but for now I'm planning on buying more!
