When opening the package, the handle broke off

I bought this because my husband will be in bed for a while after the operation. I want to like the tray but the handle broke before I could remove the shrink wrap. Hope the super glue holds! He doesn't have much stamina, but I think he'll be able to eat and read in bed for a few weeks. I doubt I will trust the pens.
