Review on ๐Ÿšต Zefal 'Cristophe' Half Toe Clip for Mountain Bicycles by Chris Brazington

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm a clumsy person by nature, and I just don't like anything that needs to be actively removed.

I'm a naturally clumsy person and just don't like things that require my active distraction, so I decided to give these a try. The material is durable and I'm not worried about it breaking. The metal bracket that came with it didn't fit my bike so I had to discard it. The only downside was that they immediately started to loosen and I lost a bolt on my second ride with them. I expected them to weaken over time and planned to strengthen them with Loctite, but wanted to give them a test run first. I bought new hardware and have now reconnected it with Locktite. While they don't give you any significant pull-up strength, they do give you a slight edge that I really like. They also prevent your feet from slipping when you're going uphill and shifting gears too quickly and your bike jerks. I ride my bike for commuting and for leisure and I love that it gives me more shoe options for commuting because I'm less worried about the sole being slippery. It takes a minute to get comfortable. The weight causes the pedal to tip sideways, so I've found that when you have some forward momentum and can stop pedaling for a moment, it's best to slide with one toe and then the other. Sometimes I just start with a flat pedal on both feet and then slip. I think I'll get better at it as I use them more. They're small enough that you can still pedal my bike and rip off the ground, but they can hit when you're cornering. Sizing info: I wear a women's size 11, which is generally a men's size 9. Reviewer's photos less than 9 is smaller, more than 9 is larger. I wasn't sure what to choose so I went with the small one and I was the right choice, my toe fits well in my trainers and I even went for a short ride in my chaco with no issues. A total of 4.5 stars, if you don't want to screw the lock right away, you should have a screwdriver with you and check whether the screws are tight before every ride.
