I watch a lot of YouTube videos and in one of them he used a tool to measure the moisture content in wood due to a leak. I thought it was the coolest thing and I didn't even know there was a tool for it. I came across this product which for the price seems like a good tool to have in your arsenal, especially for the home user. It's easy to use once you get the hang of it. It seems to be doing what it says, which is to tell you if your strap/wood/building material is dry or wet. Things I would like to see improved. 1) The cap is difficult to remove. It feels like he needs more power than he should. The screen is very bright and maybe some parameters could be adjusted or lowered. It's also possible that the actual keys have some sort of backlight, or that the writing is much whiter (the same whiteness as the logo). I like the carrying case which is handy to hold a very long fact sheet about the different types of wood and which type you need to install for proper reading. There are a few on the back of the device, but the actual full list is long. Overall I am very happy with the product and would definitely recommend having it in my product arsenal. I have attached photos of the unit and a 2x4 test pattern, dried it or soaked it in water and let it sit for a while. definitely works.
