The change of long-term habits when moving from the mouse was fast. I preferred Logitech mice with an accelerating scroll wheel, so there were doubts that there was no wheel at all in the trackball. I quickly found out that it is simply not needed when instead of a "scroll wheel" there is a whole "scroll ball" :) We press the button and scroll in any direction! On this model, there is no great inertia of the ball, although it is quite heavy, however, this does not cause any inconvenience, scrolling pages in the editor or scrolling the graphics view in different directions is convenient for me with its help. Since I use the device only in Linux, there were no problems with drivers and button programming, for users of other operating systems, it is worth first clarifying what software is available and what key remapping capabilities are supported. After a series of experiments with keys in Linux, I reset the scrolling to the left large key - it is pressed with the thumb, this very natural movement does not constrain the rest of the fingers - scrolling is done with the index and middle fingers. With a short press, the same key works as a right click. In this case, the left click is on the right large key, I press it with the nameless or middle one. Changing the right and left buttons is mentally straining at first, but the habit changes quickly. On small buttons - the average mouse click is set. Unusually, but after almost a year of use, this layout is the maximum comfort for the hand. The trackball, in my opinion, is a device for work, as a programmer it is very convenient for me. For games - I continue to use the mouse. For frequent work at the computer - I recommend.
