Edit: The inner rubber stock screw didn't last more than a few months. It's torn in the middle. Don't buy it, it's junk. ---- The clamping mechanism is unlocked with the slightest push inwards. which means it's REALLY hard to tighten enough to want to stick. I had to use 3M strips as another person suggested and I would never want to use them to support curtains anyway, they won't hold anything! I use it to train grape plants, but it's good enough for that. Not very versatile due to weak internal screw. Avoid this if you need a very tight rod.
