PLEASE NOTE: These kits are NOT cross stitch kits. However, these are conventional embroidery sets in which motifs are applied to fabric. Counted cross stitch usually requires a special fabric and you have to literally count the holes in the fabric to make sure you place the stitches in the right place. Other than that, these are good sets. They are perfect for beginners. I love beautiful floral patterns, especially with cherry blossoms. Cherry blossoms seem to be a "motif" lately as I see them in all sorts of crafts all the time. Personally, I would choose cherry blossoms any day over the sloths and owls that have been so popular for a while! They are ideal for your own needlework or for learning to embroider, allowing the student to learn many basic stitches that will be helpful as they move on to bigger and better projects. They don't take long either. These are used for learning to embroider, so ready-made kits are a joy to tinker with. I have many times for those who want to learn sewing skills like quilting, I take what they need from my stash, but it's good when you teach to have everything with you. These kits have two needles for each kit, but three kits share the same thread scissors as well as a needle threader. I have several needle threaders of this type and none of mine have broken yet, but I have more of these, as well as thread snips. Using a thread cutter and needle threader together isn't bad, especially if you're teaching in small groups or with a few friends. Because each set has its own embroidery hoop, the embroidery hoop can frame the embroidery when the student or you finish. I found useful information on how to use an embroidery hoop to frame something and make it look neat from the back. Unfortunately, I cannot specify the URLs in the rating.
