Carbon fiber and epoxy worked well for my repair of various damaged sports equipment (bike frame, kayak propeller shaft). Epoxy resin should be mixed in a volume ratio of 1:1. Without an easy way to measure small volumes, it's convenient to mix small amounts of epoxy resin by weight using a small kitchen scale, but I've found that the resin is significantly more dense than the hardener, so the volume won't be accurate if you Mix 1:1 by weight. Weight. I have calculated that the density of the resin is about 20% higher than that of the hardener, so using a resin:hardener weight ratio of 1.2:1 is good to maintain equal volumes. Mixed epoxy cures quite slowly at room temperature. If you are in a hurry, heat the wet build-up above normal room temperature to speed up the curing reaction. If you don't want to wait for days, you can use a small heater, a covered lightbulb, or placing the part in a mechanical room with a hot (100F) oven. I haven't had any issues with premature thickening of the epoxy as others have reported, I'm happy with the product. The weave of the CF plate is quite loose, so watch out for the wear of the material if you're worried about the weave's appearance.
