When confused, bury in the sofa cushions

These are fairly standard issue rawhide bones. There are two in the bag and they are approximately the size of a woman's fist. The "special" part is that they have bacon wrapped inside the rawhide, that in theory the dog will get to once it chews through the rawhide. I'm not normally a huge rawhide fan, but decided to give this one a try.The downside, which I can't necessarily blame on the bone, is that my dog just doesn't know what to do with this. He has had the bone for four days, and just sits there looking sad and trying to bury it in the sofa cushions. I'm sure he'd like the bacon if he ever ate enough of the bone to get at it, but the rawhide is not appealing enough to make him put in the effort. If your dog likes rawhide, this could be a nice treat, but otherwise I'd recommend some cow or pig's ears.

Pros
  • Promotes Clean Teeth From The Natural Abrasive Action Of Chewing
Cons
  • The product could trigger excessive thirst in dogs

While my treat loving Dachshund will beg 24/7 for treats, it took her a bit to warm up to these. She went for the bacon part right away and that kept her busy for about 20 minutes. The chicken part she didn''t care for as much at the start. It laid in the floor for a good day. She would pick it up and toss it around a bit and then proceed to "bury" it in her blankets. About a day later I found that she got it out and was happily chewing on it.
