I bought this to connect to my Cisco routers and switches using Putty on Win 8. It worked great. I didn't need a hard drive or anything like that. It just worked right out of the box. I was concerned knowing several people had issues with Win 7 drivers, so I did a little research before settling on this one. I bought it for convenience. It has no cord and is therefore very easy to carry around in your laptop bag. Five stars because this product does exactly what I wanted and it's small and compact. This is the product I recommend to all my friends who need to connect their console to network devices. Update 12/29/2016: Still use this product occasionally. Still works great. I still recommend to friends and colleagues. I had to wrap tape around the status light because it's very bright. But two and a half years later, this adapter is still working.
