Review on Suburban Co 5238A Sw6D W/H 6 Gal Dsi: Reliable Suburban Manufacturing Water Heater by Samuel Lewis

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Happy Camper Here in Parts

After some negligence on my part I had to replace my "Suburban Trailer Water Heater (sw6D)" after blowing out the original without water. to travel. (Don't do it / Don't be that guy). While shopping I found Revain at the best price so I ordered it. It arrived in perfect condition in about 4 days so I wasn't worried about it being damaged in transit. I can also add that it is packaged very well, with thick cardboard inserts to ensure safe delivery. I installed it myself after watching a YouTube video. Child's play, just watched closely as it exited the side panel and cable and gas port. Connect 3 wires just like the old ones, then tie the extra length of wire with a zip tie (useful for installing by pulling everything out on a stool). Carefully reinserted into the wall and watched closely as I was about to reattach the gas nut once it was in my house. I had to go inside to position it in the right place and then go back outside to gently pull it into the knockout hole before connecting it. That was the hard part, but it worked. Just won't bend or flex easily, but with a little effort with one hand (fingers) the other was able to screw it via the teflon tape threads on the fitting. I bolted the body in place before hitting the gas. Connection on each side, on studs with 2 bolts from original installation. I'll check for a propane leak with a mixture of soapy water before doing a test run, but I'm sure it'll be ready for my next trip. I will definitely first check if there is water in it by quickly checking the outlet reading outside from now on. But overall it was an easy install if you have the tools. Took about 3 hours with care. If I had to make another one it would take half the time.
