Works well -- two bad design issues undermine the credibility of the product

The assembly of this rack mount surge protector looks great from the outside. - but it has good mounting nuts and bolts to attach it to my equipment rack. It provides power and has a switch. All the basic functions I need work perfectly. Two annoyances that I consider to be very obvious design flaws or just poor quality control at the factory: 1. The ground point mounting hole uses non-standard threads - WAY too small for something that needs to handle that much power (with all outputs going to power AV or network devices in a rack). The hole itself ended at 1/16 inch, so I couldn't even tighten the tiny hard drive mounting screw, which had the same thread. Either I received a unit that was sent back after a previous customer broke a tiny screw. try to connect the ground wire to the outlet OR the design is not perfect. I ended up having to solder a ground wire to the socket to ensure a good mechanical and electrical connection between the socket and the ground wire (see photo)2. Second, the annoying thing is that either the switch cover is upside down OR the sockets are upside down (see photo). This shouldn't be a problem in the long run as I won't be opening the switch cover very often - if the switch cover is opened too many times the friction lock will wear out and eventually the cover will not stay closed as it is fitted upside down. I can avoid this by rotating the socket and mounting it "upside down". ", but then all outlets would open downwards instead of downwards in the default configuration. Both of the above devices don't stop the show, but I'm wondering if this thing is worth relying on to protect expensive devices from surges Protect Three stars overall considering the pros (basic features at a reasonable price) and cons (design flaws that lose confidence in the product).
