Day 1 shocks are great, it took about an hour after climbing to install both front shocks on my 2001 Silverado Extended Cab. I'm 18 and made it myself which says how easy the setup is. As with all car work, the hardest part is unscrewing the old bolts. I have mud tires so my truck will always be bumpy, but I've actually tried potholes with the new shocks and hardly felt them. The shocks work hard, not very soft, but maintain good control on back roads or twisty roads and greatly improve braking as they no longer lean forward when I'm trying to stop. All in all, in my opinion, the best shock absorber for off-road and highway use. Mine are paired with Monroe Load Adjusting Spring shocks.
