TL;DR - For this cable to work, all that was required was to remove the connectors at the ends and plug them into the SFP. Requires no cleaning and is very easy to connect or disconnect. After connecting my gateway to my switch via ethernet for the longest time, I decided it was time to free up the ethernet port on the switch. After reading which SFP port would work best for my setup, I found these cables. The length was great as my rack is side by side mounted and the short cable makes for a cleaner install. I just had to remove the rubber plugs and put them in the mechanism to make it work. Removing them was just as easy. There is also nothing to worry about with short cables. I'll most likely be connecting my next device via fiber once I've decided how I'm going to expand, and another short cable will do the job just fine.
