I bought this specifically for the multi-component construction as my project was a bit larger. unique. I have an old Sony KDL-32BX330 that I wanted to get on my existing 100x100 mount. In Sony's boundless wisdom, these TVs did not have a standard VESA mount and instead required a separate proprietary SU-WL500 mount to connect to the 4 screw holes at the top and bottom of the TV's rear panel spaced approximately 200mm apart. Not only is this mount impossible to find these days, it would require the removal of my existing fully featured VESA mount. Instead, I bought some punched steel flat bars at the hardware store, bent them around the TV, and secured them with screws and washers. I was then able to fit the VESA adapter 200x200 to 100x100 into the hole rod holes. . However, the design of this particular VESA adapter allows for much more flexibility in TV placement, as the 'hump' on the back prevents the use of a one-piece mount. The parts are also thick and strong which makes this project possible.
