My son managed to tear off one of the black plastic pieces within 5 minutes of the first try. I thought it was just him but after about a month one on top of the other boot fell off. This part is actually crucial for the elastic rope part of the shoe as without the black part it will always be looser. I ended up tying the ends in a knot. Otherwise, the rest of the shoe feels sturdy. I bought this in a different color for my other child and had no issues with it so not sure if the first pair was just a fault.
