I ordered this chair in November 2017. The gas bottle failed after about 2 months. But since I'm a big guy, I'm used to it. I can live with sitting a little shorter, but the part that made this chair a 1 star was that the base (where the wheels attach) is hollow. This is very thin steel that is pressed into a tube and welded to a frame with very thin supports inside. After about a year of continuous use (working in an office, about 10 hours a day) the supports in the tubes broke, twisting the "shoulders" of the base, preventing the weight from being distributed over the tops of the wheel. At first I thought the wheel bearings had finally let me down so I ordered some razor blade style wheels and then noticed how warped the actual base was. I ordered a new gas bottle and base under warranty but everything works with friction and I can't in my life remove the base from the bottle and the bottle from the chair so the warranty parts didn't do me any good. I'm working on getting a bracket that attaches to the chair so I can replace the entire assembly just south of the chair cushion. Long story short, I'd pay the extra money for a better chair ($350) - which I probably will in the long run.
