POORLY assembled replacement drive

When we discovered that my husband's PS3 was out of service I decided to replace it. I have been repairing electronics for 6 years so I had no problem installing the drive after the first fitment when the disc was immediately noticed the protective pad the disc was placed in was damaged (pic attached) I also noticed that Laser tape looked a little different, after installation I plugged it in to check but it refused to accept the disc (video included). it didn't work, maybe I could replace the laser with the broken laser in my husband's PS3. When I opened up the drive I found that the metal plate protecting the laser components had fallen off and was in the laser mounting slots and the laser mounting was missing not one, but TWO screws from the top (picture attached). After removing the laser mount and unplugging the laser ribbon cable, I found that it was originally installed the wrong way around (not sure if that matters, but getting the correct position makes reconnecting that much easier...). Not that this affects functionality but the video (which was helpful) they provided claims to be identical however one corner is a clip and not a screw as in the original and is also installed incorrectly. The only reason I didn't ask for a full refund was that I was able to get the PlayStation3 to run Blu-ray after I glued the platter back to the laser and replaced it with the old drive. But the work was much more than it should have been...
