I get more compliments on these lights!

I bought these lanterns to hang outside under a rectangular umbrella. I hung all 4 lamps evenly spaced across a table for 8 people. It gives off a warm, inviting light but is not too bright. This is a unique way to illuminate a conversation space. I have received so many compliments and questions about where they were purchased. They come with all the "strings" lying in the exact same direction. You need to spread them evenly and separate 3 lights at the end of each chain. I've found that the easiest way to do this is to hold the base of the battery in one hand and pull the strings down one layer at a time. I pull the first layer (6 evenly spaced strands) under the warp. Doing this below the floor creates a more spherical effect. The second layer (also 6 equally spaced strings) is lowered BETWEEN the strings of the first layer about 1 inch above the first layer for an alternating effect. They are evenly distributed. Spread 3 lamps at the end of each row as you go. Trial and error hanging. Initially I used small command hooks on metal umbrella poles with a small metal ring to attach lights to. Command hooks didn't last 24 hours. Ordered a roll of brown duct tape and a set of metal splinters/keyrings. I wrapped the ribbon around the ring and along the metal support bar, then I wrapped the ribbon around the metal bar and through the ring several times. . Excellent! You can't leave them under the umbrella when you close the umbrella. It's best to hang them somewhere you won't wrinkle them so you don't have to reposition the laces.

Cons
  • It's hard to remember but
