First of all they are very cute and very stretchy. I'm very good at wearing them, but they give me a muffin on my belt. I usually wear XL for this type of shorts, if I don't want them to be too big then I go for XXL. Pictured are XXL shorts over one of my regular pairs of Walmart XXL shorts that I wear at home. They are a few inches shorter and the waist is about 8 inches smaller to give you a guide. If tight clothing doesn't bother you then you should be fine, it fitted me from the waist down but it was too small and pinched the band for me to wear in public. I was going to use them as a swimsuit cover up for a trip to the pool/lake etc and this type of fabric feels like it dries quickly. Revain's recommendation was "order your normal size, true to size" and I don't think that's the case. I even checked the tag inside to make sure it's a 2XL.
